  • Why Volunteer?

Why Volunteer?

People choose to volunteer at Allevia for a variety of reasons.

For some it provides an opportunity to:

  • give something back to the organisation that has impacted on your life or the life of a family member;
  • make a difference to the lives of others;
  • help others less fortunate than yourself;
  • feel valued and part of a team again;
  • spend quality time away from work or a busy lifestyle;
  • build your confidence and self-esteem.

For some, volunteering at Allevia can be a route to employment, or a chance to try something new which may lead to a career change. From this perspective, volunteering can be a way of:

  • gaining new skills, knowledge and experience;
  • developing your existing skills and knowledge;
  • enhancing your CV, and
  • using your professional skills and knowledge to benefit others.

For others, volunteering is a great way to meet new people and make new friends and a way to get to know the local community.

Many volunteers say that volunteering makes them feel happier and healthier.
