Support coordination

Have you got 'Support Coordination' or 'Support Connection'  in your NDIS Plan?

If the answer is 'yes' and if you need assistance to find people to give you the support you need and want, then Allevia's awesome Support Coordinators can help.

Allevia provides Support Coordination services to people who live in the Sydney Metropolitan and Illawarra regions (and sometimes in other areas if we recognise someone's need that can't be met by other agencies).

Support coordination is a part of the NDIS that aims to strengthen the ability of NDIS participants to access all supports they need and want. This includes informal (unpaid), mainstream (available to all members of the community), community (provided by community based services and businesses) and funded supports (paid for out of NDIS approved funds).

Our team have been providing support coordination services to people with disability and their representatives since the NDIS started in 2016. Over 200 people have found connections with the support services they need with a Support Coordinator's assistance.

"The NDIS Planner told me I could have some funding to pay for a Support Coordinator to help me get the supports my son needed. I had no idea who to approach, but a friend sent me to Allevia saying she could not have done it with out them and they a great at listening to what you want and getting things done quickly. Gania has been a a real life-saver, and when I have questions and concerns she is more than willing to help me out."

The NDIS is complex and the systems and processes keep changing and evolving. Many people express their frustration with the scheme and find comfort having someone like a Support Coordinator in their corner fighting for what they need and want.

"I didn't want Support Coordination. I am really quite capable of managing my NDIS Plan on my own. But it is really good to know that when things don't work and I get frustrated and overwhelmed by the system, that my Allevia Support Coordinator is only a phone call away and ready to help me out."

"I know what I want, but I am often told I can't have that because 'it has not been approved as being reasonable or necessary'. I was told this by my Allevia Support Coordinator on more than one occasion and I got angry with them and decided to find someone else who would say yes. After 3 months of absolutely getting nowhere, I went back to Allevia and with their understanding and support, I have accepted that the NDIS doesn't pay for everything in my life and I need to be clear with the Planners about what is reasonable and necessary in my individual circumstances. Having a Plan which is clear about what I can use my money for is really important to me and my Support Coordinator has been great in helping me on my journey to achieve this goal"

Getting help is as simple as clicking on the button below, calling us on the phone (02) 9773 8894, or

sending us an email ([email protected])

Getting what you want and need within the reasonable and necessary rules is not as hard as you think. We can help you get support quickly and then show you how you can become your own Support Coordinator.
